Change DigiD data

A new email address or a different phone number? Or is it necessary to change the password? Change it quickly in My DigiD.


  • Go to the login page of DigiD.
  • Log in using the method you find most comfortable and/or use most often. We choose ‘With username and password’, because every user can log in that way. So click on With username and password.
  • Enter the username and password and click login.
  • If the question ‘Email address correct?’ appears, click on Yes. (Even if you want to change this.)

An overview of all personal data and settings appears. You can check them all.

Under ‘Personal data’ you will find the username and citizen service number. You cannot change it. The other three details – password, telephone number and e-mail address – can be changed.

  • click on change Password.
  • click on I remember my current password and want to change my password
  • Enter the current password and twice the new password below. Please note that the password cannot contain spaces. It must be at least 8 characters long and have at least 1 lowercase letter, 1 uppercase letter, 1 number and 1 punctuation mark.
  • click on Modify. The password has now been changed.
  • click on Change phone number.
    • Does the old number still work? Then choose Via a text message to my old phone number.
      • click on Next one and follow the next steps.
    • The old number no longer works, but are you using the DigiD app? Then choose Via the DigiD app.
      • click on Next one.
      • Enter your new phone number, click Next one and follow the next steps.
    • Does the old number no longer work and are you not using the DigiD app? Then choose By letter.
      • click on Next one and follow the next steps.
  • click on change e-mail address.
  • Enter the new email address.
  • click on Next one and follow the next steps.
