Change theme of bird’s-eye screensaver and portraits on Apple TV

Anyone who owns an Apple TV with tvOS undoubtedly has the ‘at a glance’ screensaver active. The screen saver shows beautiful aerial videos of landscapes, the earth, cities and the underwater world.

Since the screensaver was introduced, it randomly shows videos in all categories. Do you find some images less interesting or are you tired of certain aerial videos? Since tvOS 14 you can determine the themes for this screensaver yourself.

Change bird’s eye view screensaver theme

  1. Open Settings on your Apple TV
  2. Select ‘Screen Saver’
  3. Select ‘At a Glance’ from ‘Screen Saver Preferences’
  4. Choose a desired theme under ‘Themes’

Do you have tvOS 17 or older installed? Then you can adjust this via Settings â–¸ General â–¸ Screen saver â–¸ Type â–¸ select At a glance â–¸ Themes.

You can choose from:

  • Landscape: Scenes of natural landforms and rural terrain
  • Earth: View of Earth from the International Space Station
  • Underwater: View of aquatic animals and plants
  • Cityscapes: Cities and urban environments in motion

Through the settings you can show or hide the topics to ensure that the aerial videos are used as a screen saver or not. So are you tired of the endless vistas of Dubai or Los Angeles? Then you can hide the ‘Cityscape’ theme so that these are no longer shown.

Customize portraits screen saver

  1. Open Settings on your Apple TV
  2. Select ‘Screen Saver’
  3. Select ‘At a Glance’ from ‘Screen Saver Preferences’
  4. Choose a desired theme under ‘Themes’
