Cheap earplugs from Lidl: AirPods alternative?
Apple’s AirPods often cost more than 100 euros. But these (sort of) AirPods from Lidl are a lot cheaper. You pay for these earphones now 19.99 euros (normally they are 23.99 euros).
You connect the cheap earbuds from Lidl to your iPhone (or Android device) and you can operate them via the earbud, just like the AirPods. But you can still adjust the volume with your smartphone. With a charged set of earphones you can listen to music for about 4.5 hours. Thanks to the charging box, you can then charge the earbuds about three to four times with a full battery.
It takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge the earbuds. To fully charge the box, it needs to be on the charger for about three hours. You will receive a USB cable for charging.
The earplugs fit well with the supplied silicone tips. These caps also dampen outside noise a bit. You get several silicone caps with your Lidl AirPods, so you can choose the most suitable one. By the way: just like the AirPods, these earphones are not waterproof.
The sound quality is reasonable. According to several reviews, the sound is ‘not bad at all’, but you should not expect the sound quality of the Apple AirPods. In addition, you miss some functions, such as quickly switching between different devices that you are connected to. Or things like spatial audio.
But if you just want to listen to music and are looking for a set of AirPods that don’t cost too much, then these earbuds from Lidl are not a bad choice at all. They are also available in white and black.
