The most famous strategic board game is playable via iMessage with Checkmate! This game will be completely free for the next week.
Checkmate!
Every week, Apple chooses a new app to offer for free for a week. This week it’s the turn of possibly the most famous board game ever: chess. With the game Checkmate! challenge your friends and family via iMessage. Are you the best?
The old game of chess has been made playable over the years on every new form of technology. Be it by mail, a CD-ROM in a computer, e-mail, as a separate app or now in iMessage. Within the messaging app, this is one of the better options when it comes to chess.
The great thing about Checkmate! is that you do not need a separate app, but the turns are simply sent in a conversation. You also don’t have to be both active to play the game. It is perfectly possible to take a turn whenever you want. For example if you have something else to do, but also if you want to think about the perfect move for a long time.
To start a game, you first start a conversation with someone. Then select the Checkmate! App and tap Start Game. It is perfectly possible to play chess with several people at the same time. It’s an ideal way to keep your head sharp throughout the day. The app can be used completely in Dutch. It also works on all your iOS devices, because the pots are simply synchronized.
