Netflix is by far the most popular TV service at the moment, but it lacks a good official Mac app. Fortunately, Clicker is an excellent alternative, doing everything we expect from a full-fledged macOS version of Netflix.
Clicker improves watching Netflix on the Mac
The makers of Clicker took a hard look at the features of macOS that come in handy when watching a movie or series, and packed them all into one app. This way you are completely free to set up the app to your own taste. For example, turn off auto-playing trailers or hide the Netflix Originals column in the main menu.

Even while watching a series, Clicker is a lot more functional than Netflix itself. This way you can always automatically skip the intro, or just hide the skip intro button. Also useful for curbing your Netflix addiction: the option to turn off the automatic advance to the next episode.
If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, Clicker will come in handy even more. The app takes over the touchscreen function keys and lets you easily control the video, but you can also look up another series with the Quick Switcher function. While the series is still playing on your MacBook screen, you can already look for an alternative to check here.

The Clicker icon in the macOS menu bar also gives you the option to immediately resume watching the series you were working on. This way you can continue in no time, without first manually opening the app and looking up the series. The picture-in-picture mode comes in handy if you’re also doing some other stuff on your Mac while you’re watching Netflix.
Clicker temporarily available with a discount
The only downside of Clicker has not so much to do with the app but with Netflix itself. It is still not possible to watch videos in 4K, because the maximum is set to 1080p.
You can buy Clicker from the app’s website for $5, but if you’re quick, you can get the app at a discount by buying it through the developer’s website to buy. For this you use the code launchpromo19 at checkout so that you only pay 2 dollars for it. In our opinion, definitely worth the price for anyone who regularly watches Netflix on his or her Mac.
