Control Christmas lights with an app

Most living rooms will soon have a cozy Christmas tree again. And the lights in that tree now have a digital touch.

Just a little while and he’ll be allowed again. When Sinterklaas leaves for Spain, we can bring the Christmas tree into the house. Such a cozy spruce, decorated with balls and lights. In the past, real candles hung in the tree. But because of the fire risk, few people do that nowadays. Everyone opts for electric lights. But time does not stand still: the digital world is creeping in in that area too. The most modern Christmas lights can be fully controlled via an app.

If you no longer feel like untangling that tangle of lights before they can get into the tree, opt for wireless lights. There are sets of ten, twenty and even forty lights for sale. Hang each lamp loose in the tree by means of a pinch clip. Once they are hanging, they can be operated remotely. Turn them on or off. Use the timer function so that they extinguish after, for example, four hours. The only drawback is that each light runs on a battery. Unfortunately, they are not included as standard.

A set of twenty lights is for sale via bol.com for 35.54 euros (price November 2021).

These lights are still attached to a cord, but the operation is entirely via an app on the smartphone. It is often possible to set all kinds of color light effects. Take, for example, the cord with 100 lights from the Twinkly brand. Via the accompanying (English) app, the lights can give a rainbow effect, or a certain light pattern. There is of course a price tag: the set of Twinkly costs 54.50 euros (price November 2021).
