Editing photos has always been possible, but if you applied an edit to a photo or video, you had to do it all over again the next time. Since iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, you can copy and paste your photo edits to other items.
You can also restore them step-by-step so that you can undo a certain edit afterwards without having to delete all edits.
Copy photo edits
- Edit a photo or video on your iPhone or iPad
- Save the changes
- Tap on three dots and select ‘Copy edits’
- Return to overview
- Select the items you want to customize
- Then tap on the three dots
- Select ‘Paste edits’

On a Mac, you can copy your edits by right-clicking on the photo after making the adjustment and choosing ‘Copy Edits’. Then go back to the overview and select all the photos and videos you want to adjust. Second-click on a selected photo and choose ‘Paste Edits’.
Step-by-step recovery
Speaking of editing, when you edit a photo you can undo the edits step-by-step using the arrows at the top of the screen. Previously, you could only undo all edits. On a Mac, you use the key combination command⌘ + Z
