You either love it or you don’t, but Apple is fully committed to Stickers for Messages. The new sticker drawer stores all your Live Stickers, emoji, Memoji and other sticker variants together. Your stickers also sync with iCloud, so they’re automatically on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
You can quickly create a sticker from almost any photo in your photo library. You can even use Live Photos to create your own more animated stickers. In addition, all emoji can be used in sticker form. We explain how it works.
Stickers in Messages
You either love it or you don’t, but Apple is fully committed to Stickers for Messages this year. The new sticker drawer stores all your Live Stickers, emoji, Memoji and other sticker variants together. Your stickers also sync with iCloud, so they’re automatically on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
You can view stickers in the Messages app by tapping the plus button next to the text field. Then choose ‘Stickers’. They can also be accessed directly from the emoji keyboard.
Available everywhere
In the drawer you will find all your stickers from different apps. Because you can now consult them via the emoji button, this means that you can paste stickers in all apps where you can insert emoji – including those from the App Store. And if you want to add a sticker to a photo, document, screenshot or other type of file, you can do so via the marking feature.
Emoji stickers
You will also find emoji stickers in the sticker drawer. These are stickers of all emojis present in the keyboard. This way you can express your feelings even better.
Create your own unique stickers
Since iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, it has been possible to turn your personal photos into a (live) sticker. This works with the help of machine learning and the function to automatically determine the subject of a photo. It goes like this;
- Open photos for iPhone or iPad
- Navigate to a photo you want to turn into a sticker
- Put your finger on the subject
- Wait a few moments
- Choose ‘Add sticker’ from the pop-up menu
You can then pimp the sticker with an effect, such as Glossy, Thick, Strip or Contour. For a Live Sticker that really moves, take a Live Photo as a basis. Repeat this for all photos and Live Photos and replenish your sticker tray. All stickers are synchronized with all your Apple devices and can therefore also be used on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.
Send stickers
You have immediate access to your stickers via the emoji keyboard. Tap the clock at the bottom of this keyboard and then tap the sticker sheet (circle). Of course also via the plus button in the Messages app. Tap on the sticker to send it, this can be done in all chat apps including WhatsApp. You can also add them to e-mail messages this way.
In the Messages app, in addition to sending the pictures, it is also possible to paste the stickers directly onto a speech bubble from the sticker menu.
