The dictation function is standard present on almost all Apple products that can enter text. It is super simple and ensures that you can add texts in no time. We explain how to dictate and use it on all your Apple devices.
Dictate activate

iPhone or iPad
- Open settings

Use dictation function
Once you have activated the option, it is possible to use it. iPhone or iPad
Activate the keyboard and tap the microphone icon. Then audio waves appear, pronounce the text and iOS/iPados will convert the speech to text. Tap the globe to change the language.
Apple Watch
As soon as you have to enter text, for example in the App Store or when answering a message, you can tap the microphone icon. You can then record your message and turn the Apple Watch to text.
Mac
You can switch on almost anywhere on a Mac as soon as you can enter text. Use the key on the keyboard that you have set in the previous step to activate dictation. For most Macs that is pressing twice on the FN key or with newer Mac keyboards the microphone tests on the keyboard. The dictation symbol appears on the screen and you can enter the text with speech.
Apple TV
If you have marked a text field on the screen, hold the Siri button (microphone) on the Siri Remote and say out loud what you want to enter in the field. The Apple TV automatically converts the speech to text.
Useful tips when dictating
While speaking, you can also add the layout or punctuation marks with the help of dictating. Say point, comma, exclamation mark, question mark, euro sign, open hook … close the hook, double (le) quotation sign (s) open … Double (le) quotation sign (s) close, etc. to add these punctuation marks. Also terms such as space, new paragraph, new rule, capital letter, capital letters (to write the next word completely in capital letters), etc. are also supported.
