Digital Wellbeing is a Google tool with which you can keep an eye on the use of your smartphone and reduce the time on your smartphone. There are also such aids from other providers.
Many people use their smartphone several times a day. Calls, messenger messages, apps and the like are calling for more and more time and attention. According to a survey, young people spend up to 4.5 hours a day in front of their cell phone screens, in adults the use of the smartphone is almost 2.5 hours.
The problem “smartphone addiction” is getting bigger-everyone: Rt ten young people in Europe already has a problematic relationship with the smartphone. A relatively small proportion of the population (approx. One to two percent) is still affected by a serious disturbance or behavioral addiction in terms of mobile phone use in Germany.
In the meantime, providers of the smartphone operating systems react and provide software for “Digital Wellbeing”, which enables you to keep an eye on mobile phone use and to regulate if necessary.

“Digital Wellbeing” is the Android solution for the controlled handling of time on the smartphone. The app of the same name determines how much time you spend on the smartphone, how often you use which app and how many notifications you get.
Based on this data, you can limit how long which app you want to use during the day. In addition, at certain times, the digital-wellbeing app can put the screen on gray instead of colored and remind you of switching off the smartphone at night.
Apple screen time

“Screen Time” is the digital-wellbeing app for more conscious use of the smartphone in the iOS operating system. You can find the app from iOS 12 in the settings. During screen time you will receive a temporal analysis of your smartphone use.
Based on this information, you decide which apps get a time limit. Set up which app should send you a message throughout the day after a certain service life if you cross your self -defined limit. Alternatively, you can have the use blocked by the screen time app even after exceeding the specified time for the rest of the day.
Meta parent supervision
Some apps and applications offer opportunities to limit their use. On Instagram there is the option of the parent supervision in the settings, with which you can check how much time your child spends on Instagram. There you can also set up a time limit and breaks for use. In addition, Instagram has introduced the “Nighttime Nudge” tool: Children and young people receive a memory on the platform to put the cell phone away and go to sleep if they look for reels for more than ten minutes at certain times or check messages.
Of course, you can also sit for your own account to improve your own account and keep an eye on your own account.
Meta, the parent company behind Instagram and Facebook, also offers this parent supervision for other meta-products, for example for the virtual reality headset Meta Quest. This allows you to determine how long your child can use the headset.

You can also improve your digital well -being through some measures to regulate the screen time: some measures:
-
Digital Detox: Without an app, you regulate your smartphone use by deliberately switching off your smartphone or other devices at certain times.
-

-
You do not have to be constantly accessible: Place that only calls and messages from very important people can trigger an acoustic signal or the vibration alarm. For example, you are for family, partners: inside and best friend: accessible at all times, while unimportant messages do not distract yourself.
-
Digital Wellbeing without new software: Even if your smartphone does not yet offer the software solutions presented above, you can reduce your smartphone consumption through certain settings. Make push messages that are not really important, switch the smartphone silent and place the screen on grayscale. So the device demands less carefully from you and you have more time for things that are close to your heart.
