Since macOS Sequoia, you can use full-screen tiles on a Mac to quickly organize your screen. Unfortunately, this feature also comes with a disadvantage. As you drag windows, they can be automatically resized and positioned on the screen.
The cause of this is the full-screen tiles. You can activate the invisible tiles when you drag a window across the desktop of your Mac. Especially on smaller screens, this will result in automatic adjustment and placement on the screen. Fortunately, you can disable this behavior.
Disable window resizing while dragging
- Open  ▸ System Settings
- Navigate to ‘Desktop and Dock’
- Scroll down to ‘Windows’
- Turn off the ‘Place by dragging windows to screen edges’ option

Now when you move a window on your Mac and bring it to the edge of the screen, you will notice that it no longer automatically resizes and positions.
Expand with option
Would you still like to use this drag-and-drop option? Then you can expand dragging with the option⌥ key in the settings, which you can consult using the steps above. To do this, enable the option ‘Hold down the ⌥ key while dragging to place windows’.

In addition, there are many more ways to use the full-screen tiles on a Mac, you can read more about how in the highlighted article below.
