Disable web access to your iCloud data

Disable access to photos, files, and personal data through iCloud.com

Through the iCloud website, Apple users can access almost all the data they have stored in iCloud. For added security and more control over your personal data, you can choose to disable web access to your iCloud data.

This means you can disable access to photos, files, and personal information through iCloud.com. You can no longer view this data via the website and only on your trusted devices.

Disable web access to iCloud data

You can manage web access to iCloud.com in the iCloud settings of your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This requires iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, or macOS 13.1 or later.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Navigate to your name
  3. Then tap ‘iCloud’
  4. Turn off the ‘Access iCloud data on the web’ option

On a Mac you can adjust this via  ▸ System Settings ▸ your name ▸ iCloud. Click to turn “Access iCloud data on the web” on or off.

Disable web access to your iCloud data

When you disable access to iCloud data on the web and then sign in to iCloud.com, you’ll see a warning. This confirms that web access to iCloud data has been disabled and you cannot access your data.

If you still want to regain access, you can temporarily enable the option again via the steps above. You must then manually disable the option again. Good to know: the find my function always remains active.

Advanced data protection

If you turn on Advanced Data Protection for iCloud, web access through iCloud.com will be automatically disabled. However, you can choose to re-enable web access and use your trusted devices to allow temporary access to your data using the steps above.
