Does a ‘diamond crocodile’ lay an egg with or without a shell in the water?

Answer

Hello,

a Diamond crocodile is a reptile. All reptiles, including crocodiles, are fully terrestrial animals, which means that their development takes place on land: many reptiles have returned to the water for secondary purposes, but they lay their nest eggs on land! For example, sea turtles, crocodiles and sea snakes all come ashore to lay their eggs in a nest on land. The crocodile female keeps a constant eye on the nest and listens until she hears peeps from her budding young before going to fetch them and release them into the water. Reptiles have ‘leather-like’ egg shells.
