In the 90s, devices with a transparent housing were very popular. Now someone has even made a transparent iPhone 16. You want that, right?
Transparent iPhone 16
Maybe you still have an old, transparent Game Boy, a transparent phone, an iMac G3 or a transparent Swatch watch somewhere? These devices with a transparent housing used to be extremely popular. And admit it: it also looks really cool.
Yet you hardly see these types of devices nowadays, and that is quite a shame. But fortunately there are all kinds of hobbyists who are now rolling up their sleeves and providing a wide variety of devices with a transparent housing.
This also applies to Phone Repair Guru’s YouTube channel. This channel has made transparent iPhones before, but this time thought it was time for the iPhone 16 Pro. In the video below on YouTube you can see what had to be done to provide this iPhone 16 Pro (€ 1,175) with a transparent housing.
Step-by-step, the iPhone 16 Pro is made up to reach the back. That turned out to be quite a lot of work. Several layers had to be removed. Some layers were easier to remove than others.
The video even shows how gallium was used to remove the aluminum layer. It turned out to work well, but then the last colored layer on the back still had to be removed by hand with a scraper.
Once the back of the iPhone 16 Pro was completely clean, the device could be reassembled. The video said it took about 3 to 4 days to complete all the steps. The result is worth seeing, because the transparent iPhone 16 Pro has become incredibly beautiful.
