Last Wednesday on Thursday we received a power surge/injection from outside. As a result, the main switch has tripped.

As a result, some devices are broken. We have 3x 20ampere as a connection. We have solar panels, (30 pieces of 180 kWh)

the man from the electricity company told us to increase this to 3x 32 amps. We also have a jacuzzi. How come we get solar power surges? In the 5 years that we have lived in our house, the electricity has turned itself off dozens of times. What could this be due to? Our electrical installation was inspected in August. Can you advise what we should/can do to secure our installation? The person from the electric company has taken measurements and the different inputs of the main switch indicate that there is 235 volts of power coming in, and that was fine.

Could it be that the solar panels act as a kind of magnet, giving off an electric shock in damp and cold weather? Or could it be the PBE’s closet?

Answer

Dear Erhard,

I think your solar panels should be exonerated. A power surge is usually the result of a lightning strike or a short circuit outside the house. Sometimes it can be due to a bad connection of one of the cores of the cable coming into your home.

What you can do if that happens more than occasionally is to ask the company to install a recorder that measures the quality of the network. Then you can determine with certainty where the problem comes from.

As for the counter, I think society is right. Your Jacuzzi probably uses 3000 Watts when it heats up. Your washing machine and dishwasher do that too, an iron and a vacuum cleaner will soon run at 1000W. Your counter now allows a consumption of 1.7*220*20 = approximately 7500 Watt. So you see that, if you are unlucky and a number of devices stand up together, you can go over the power of the counter. So strengthening can probably help you.

I hope to be of service to you and wish you happy parties (with electricity)!
