After the CoronaMelder app, there will probably also be a CoronaCheck app soon. What is this app for and what do you need to know about it? We will update you.
Where the CoronaMelder is designed to warn you that you have been in the vicinity of someone with corona, the CoronaCheck is mainly intended to prove that you have been tested recently and that the test has shown that you are not infected with the virus.
The idea is that you can show this test certificate on your smartphone if you want to go to a restaurant or festival, for example. The cabinet is currently working on an amendment to the law, which will state that you are required to show a test certificate if you want access to catering, sports, culture and events. These will be “non-essential sectors”, so you do not need to use the app to access government buildings or public transport, for example.
If this amendment is approved, it means that you are obliged to use the CoronaCheck to gain access to your favorite restaurant or a concert. The bill will be sent to Parliament at the end of this month.

How it works
First of all, get tested for corona, even if you have no complaints. Special test streets are being set up for this. You will then receive the result of your test and with this test result you can make a test certificate in the CoronaCheck app. You will then receive a personal QR code, which you must have scanned at the entrance of, for example, a restaurant or concert hall. You do not have Internet connection needed to show the QR code.
If you have been tested negative, you will see a green tick and you can enter. This test certificate is valid for 48 hours after the test has been taken. It can therefore happen that you see a red screen while you are not infected: the test certificate is simply no longer valid.
To prevent abuse, you must also have an ID with you in addition to your mobile test certificate. The initials and your date of birth on the test certificate will then be checked against the information on the ID.
Protection of your privacy
It is important that your details, including your full name and location, are not stored to guarantee your privacy. The QR code is refreshed every three minutes, which should prevent you from being tracked via the app.
Also, others cannot find you as a user of the app.

It is still being discussed whether the CoronaCheck app should also be used as proof of vaccination. You will then see on your green screen that you have been vaccinated. Politically, however, this is a sensitive issue, so the question remains whether the app will ever serve as a corona passport.
