Expand iPhone action button into a handy starter for up to 8 tasks

Using the action button you can open an app, recognize music, activate a flashlight, start Siri command, turn off sound and much more. Since iOS 18 you can get even more out of the action button and start up to 8 tasks.

Since iOS 18, not only can you expand the action button with controls from the control panel, you can also add Siri command folders. This allows you to easily call up and start multiple tasks from the screen.

Multiple tasks for action button

Since the introduction of the action button for the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), more and more users are looking for solutions to add multiple tasks to the button. Users prefer that there is a distinction between pressing once, but also two or three times.

Unfortunately, Apple does not yet have official support for this, but thanks to our manual you can link multiple press actions to the action button. For those who find this too complicated, since iOS 18 you can also link a command folder to the action button.

When you now press the action button, it will automatically display the assignment folder and you can then tap and activate a desired assignment on the screen. This way you can add up to eight tasks to the action button. You have to perform an extra step to start the command, namely tapping on the screen.

Create commands for action button

Of course, this only works when you create commands for the action button and place them in a folder. You can compile the tasks in the assignments app and place them in a folder that you can then start by pressing the action button.

Create folder

  • Open the Assignments app
  • Go to the tab of the same name and tap ‘Assignments’ at the top left
  • Return all the way to the first page
  • Tap the folder icon to create a new folder

Place your finger on an assignment and select ‘Move’ from the pop-up menu and choose the folder you just created. Please note that an assignment can only be placed in one folder. Duplicate these if you want to use the commands in multiple places.
