Just before Christmas, John Vanderaart surprises us with an extra column. Why? Just because something came up.
Something else just popped up. Just had a young man at the front door. A collector for an ADHD project of the Brain Foundation (https://www.hersenstichting.nl/hersenvoorwaarden/adhd). Great story, everything is fine, I am willing, but: “Willing to donate once (= 1), even in cash.” And no, that’s not possible. I can only authorize donations periodically (= more than once). The young man was able to explain the reason to me very well, but a one-time donation turned out not to be an option. And such a one-time donation was my only option! So young man caught bluntly.
Well, he had heard my story many times here in the street; with identically disappointing results… “Sorry sir, I’ll just bother your neighbors with the same question.” Now I ask you as an HCC member among yourself: “Am I crazy or is something wrong here?” I understand that the Brain Foundation wants to get a steady flow of money going, but in the meantime the same Brain Foundation is leaving hard euros behind. Something like a QR code for a Tikkie-at-the-Door can’t be that difficult, can it? Then I have made a secure payment within 10 seconds. Everyone happy, right? A link to a web page is also allowed, but I think such a Tikkie is a lot more fun and satisfying for the collector.
Even crazier. I can donate once via the Brain Foundation website…
