Facebook is rolling out the new ‘Discover people’ feature. With this you can find a lot of new potential friends on the social network.
Discovering people
Facebook thinks we need some more friends. That is why the social network is now rolling out a new function to discover people. With this feature, you will be presented with a long list of potential new buddies. This list is not the same as the one with friends of your friends, because ‘Discovering people’ goes just a step further.
First of all, the position asks to introduce yourself. You do this by updating your profile step by step. For example, Facebook wants to have a short biography. Unfortunately, these updates can not only be used for the new function, but are simply placed on your profile.
You can then see on the page who is attending events wherever you go and who is in Facebook groups that you are a member of. In addition, you can, for example, see who lives in your place of residence or who work for the same company. Of course, this does not include the friends you have already made.
It still feels quite uncomfortable to look through strangers’ Facebook profiles. This probably works better for networking or dates than for making friends. ‘Discovering people’ is still being rolled out by Facebook. To see if you already have the new feature, you can go to the Facebook app menu and look at ‘Explore’. This should include ‘Discovering people’.

The new feature appears to be rolling out via the server, so no app update is needed. It is useful to have the latest version of the Facebook app installed. You can download this in the App Store via the link below. You need 307Mb of free space to use the app. You must also run at least iOS 8.0.
