Find a missing cursor in Windows

Sometimes the cursor on a Windows device disappears for a moment, or disappears against a white background. Find the mouse pointer quickly with a handy trick.

Everyone loses their cursor on the screen at some point. So it is not surprising if this happens to you, but it can be annoying. Moving the mouse back and forth endlessly to find the cursor helps, but is not an ideal solution. Fortunately, there is an easy way to find the cursor. Simply press the Ctrl key on the keyboard and the computer will indicate with a circle where the pointer is on the screen. You must first enable the function.

Set the cursor to become extra visible with the Ctrl key.

  • Click the Start button.
  • click on Institutions, this is the icon of a gear wheel.
  • A menu appears. In Windows 10, click Devices. In Windows 11, click Bluetooth and devices.
  • click on Mouse.
  • In Windows 10, under ‘Related settings’, click Additional mouse options. In Windows 11, under ‘Related settings’, click Additional Mouse Settings.
  • A new menu opens. Click on at the top Pointer options.
  • Put a check in Show pointer location when I press CTRL.
  • click on To apply > OK.

Cursor settings have been adjusted. As soon as you press the Ctrl key, the computer points to the cursor on the screen. You can easily change the setting again by checking the Show pointer location when I press CTRL to remove.
