A common joke about the AirPods is that you lose them easily. Fortunately, you can find them again with the Find My AirPods function. We show you how.
Find My AirPods: This is how this handy feature works
Find My AirPods is an extension of Find My iPhone. As long as your earbuds are linked to your iPhone (and therefore to your Apple ID), you can easily find them with this app.
The AirPods must be connected to an iPhone, iPad or MacBook for this, because they cannot independently connect to the internet. In this case, the function always uses the last passed location of the AirPods. Even if they are switched off afterwards, you still know in which area you should look for them.
This is how Find My AirPods works
- Open the Find My iPhone app;
- Wait for the app to load your products;
- Select the AirPods in the list of products and tap on them;
- Tap ‘Tasks’;
- Choose ‘Play sound’;
- When you have found the AirPods, tap Stop Sound.
Via the app you see the AirPods appear on a map, but it does not stop there. You can also have the earbuds play a sound from your iPhone, which comes in handy if you have dropped an AirPod between the couch or lost somewhere in your house. When you see a gray dot on the map, the AirPods are offline. This means you cannot play sound, but you can see the last known location.
If you regularly lose your AirPods, there is also a faster way to activate the feature. By firmly pressing the Find My iPhone app icon with 3D Touch, you can directly choose from the menu to activate Find My AirPods.
