From MacOS Tahoe you can easily personalize folders in Finder by giving them a color, symbol or emoji. This way you can visually distinguish each folder, which makes organizing and finding important folders a lot easier.
It may be a small adjustment for Finder, but it ensures that you can provide all folders for a specific purpose with color. This way you will find parts faster, and thanks to the personalization with symbols you can also immediately see what the brochure stands for.
Folder color linked to tags
The folder color in Macos Tahoe is linked to the tag that you assign to that folder. This means that when you select a color tag for a folder, the folder automatically gets that color and is thereby visually marked in Finder.

The color of the folder therefore stems from the linked tag: by adding a certain color tag, the folder changes that color and it becomes easier to quickly recognize and organize folders. Have you already linked tags to folders? Then you will see that the folder color has also been changed under macOS 26.

Adjust Finder Tags

- Finder
- Click on ‘Finder’ in the menu bar
- Choose ‘Settings’
- Open the ‘Tags’ tab

You can then adjust existing tags or add new ones using the Plus button. You can change the color by clicking on the (colored) circle for the tag. Unfortunately it is not possible to create more colors.
