News app Flipboard has received a significant update. Flipboard 4.0 adds a completely new design, with articles about your interests in smart digital magazines.

The Flipboard app has had a major update with a completely new design. According to the creators, this design was conceived to accommodate the way people use the app. The app is no longer only used to keep up with the news. Users have increasingly come to use Flipboard to read articles about their passions. The new version of the app focuses on that.
The app does this smartly. First of all, you will be presented with the well-known categories, such as photography, sports, travel or gaming. We also know these categories from other apps, but they are so general that you still regularly see messages that do not interest you. That is why subcategories have now been added so that you can indicate exactly what you like within the category. To do this, tap the black bar under the magazine of that category. In the Dutch version, however, we do not see this option now, so the update is somewhat disappointing. Hopefully these subcategories for Dutch sources will be added at a later time.
Smart magazines are made per category based on your preferences. These magazines are full of articles. By pressing a heart next to an article you can indicate what you like. This not only ensures that others see this article faster, but also that Flipboard understands better what you like. Then you will come across more such articles in the magazine. The long term will have to show how well this works.

Flipboard 4.0 can be downloaded for free in the App Store via the link below. You need 81.6MB of free space to use the app. You must also run at least iOS 9.0. Flipboard also offers an Apple Watch app.
