The popular Dutch navigation app Flitsmeister has received a nice update: thanks to CarPlay support, you can now also use the app on the screen of your car.
Flitsmeister CarPlay update now available
If you use Flitsmeister instead of Google Maps or Apple Maps to navigate, until today you had no choice but to clamp your iPhone in a car stand. Version 9.0 changes that, now that Flitsmeister finally supports CarPlay.
This means that all the functions of the iOS app have been transferred to the screen in your car. This way you can of course navigate and you will receive warnings for speed cameras, a traffic jam or if an ambulance is on the way.
You can install the CarPlay app by simply picking the latest update from the App Store. If your car supports CarPlay, you can then use the app via the screen in your dashboard.
The possibility to create a CarPlay app has been available since last year. At first, Apple Maps was the only navigation app for CarPlay, but that changed when Apple gave other competing apps access to the platform. For example, Google Maps previously appeared for CarPlay with an update.
More extensive features in the future
However, the Flitsmeister CarPlay app is not yet completely finished. The developers are expanding the Flitsmeister CarPlay version further with a future update, so that you can also report traffic jams or receive notifications for a route on your iPhone.
Flitsmeister distinguishes itself from Apple Maps and Google Maps by showing speed cameras and mobile speed cameras along the road. Over the years, the app has gathered a large group of loyal users, who report speed cameras via the app and also communicate information about traffic jams and other special traffic situations to other users.
