Floodlight 2K Pro Camera Review: 360-degree camera via your iPhone

There will come a time when we leave the house at night to see a good movie, have a nice meal or do something else. And then you want to leave your house with peace of mind. Locking the door is the basis for this. But with a security camera you are even more certain. The Floodlight 2K Pro Camera is a product that keeps a perfect eye on everything.

The big advantage of the Floodlight 2K Pro Camera compared to other security cameras is that it has a 360 degree view. It’s not much use if you hang it on the wall, but if you hang it near the garage, for example, you can see what people are doing before they come close and then also when they walk further. These are the points that stood out to me.

Floodlight 2K Pro Camera Review

A big lamp

One of the first things that strikes you when you get started with the Floodlight 2K Pro Camera is that it is equipped with a large lamp. Or rather lamps. There are three of them that switch on when movement and in this way lighten things up. It does this in quite a circle, so that you can see what is happening at your house. The lamps are also powerful (3,000 lumens) and must ensure that lighting is provided over a distance of 12 meters. You will not see well at that distance what is going on there, but up close you can always get a good picture.

Image quality of the Floodlight 2K Pro Camera is top

And thanks in part to the lamps, you always get a good image on your iPhone via the handy app. Because in that respect, this security camera is not very different from the competitors. The lamps simply record in color at night and you get a good picture. With a 2K resolution, you obviously don’t get the quality that a 4K camera offers, but in general you see everything really well and there are enough details. So if there is someone with evil plans, it is possible to recognize that person well with this camera.

360 degrees

Another advantage of the Floodlight 2K Pro Camera is that it is a 360-degree camera. That way you can hang him somewhere and he can pick up everything around him. When someone enters the area that you have set in the app, the camera can follow that person. Even when he is behind the camera. You miss the option of the lamps, because they are at the front, but even without that option you can still see what people are doing. So if you’ve got a place to hang it up to keep an eye on everything (I’m thinking a porch or the aforementioned garage cover), this one security camera has you covered in one shot.

Stores images locally

I’m quite a fan of Arlo’s security cameras. You can use that easily. You only have one drawback: if you want to see images again, you have to take out a Cloud subscription. This is not the case with the Floodlight 2K Pro Camera. It uses an internal storage of 8 gigabytes. That is not surprising and images are deleted after thirty days. So if you come across something on camera that is important to you, you have to save it somewhere else, because eventually it all disappears again.

You have to have it on power

I have to say that prior to the Floodlight 2K Pro Camera review, I’ve had almost nothing but experience with cameras that run on batteries. However, you have to connect this product to the power. If you don’t have a power point outside, that means you have to drill and pull cables. This therefore creates a higher barrier to entry to actually bring it into your home. The advantage is that you don’t have to replace a battery or charge it indoors. If it hangs, it hangs and you’re done.

The Floodlight 2K Pro Camera can be scored here, among other things.
