Things to consider before buying a sit-stand desk:
A sit-stand desk can be adjusted considerably in height, so that you can easily alternate between sitting and standing. The variety is especially good for your health. It reduces the risk of diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease and improves your posture. It also benefits focus and productivity.
Fair is fair: it can be uncomfortable, especially in the beginning, to work standing up. It is also certainly not recommended to stand too long in a row; this puts strain on your feet, back and knees. It’s all about that variety!
Do you have health problems? Then working standing may not be suitable for you, depending on the nature of these problems. Check this with your doctor beforehand.
Delivery and installation of Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk
The desk is packed very neatly, in a way that uses all the space in the box. No unnecessarily large package and no paper waste. However, the package is not light. If you have to lift him up a flight of stairs (or several flights of stairs), it’s not a bad idea to look sweetly at a friend or family member for help.
One of the few drawbacks of the desk is that it comes disassembled. So you have to get started yourself! The base and the desktop are also supplied separately. This can cause some confusion. For example, part of the desk may arrive a few days later than the other.
Fortunately, there is a good manual at the desk. As a result, our testers were able to assemble everything almost effortlessly. All parts also fit perfectly during assembly, so there was no pushing and puffing during assembly.
Value for money
We are very pleased with the quality of Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk! In fact, as far as we’re concerned, it can’t get any better than this. Although there are cheaper desks on the market, the price is definitely in proportion to the quality.
The price also depends on the material, the size, the finish, the extra gadgets and which base you take. You are therefore very flexible with how much you want to spend.
For example, you can choose different materials for the desktop, with our variant of solid oak wood being the second most expensive. The size of this also plays a role. In addition, the electric chassis costs more than the manual chassis, and you may also pay more for extra accessories, but I will come back to that.
Guarantee
We are very happy with the warranty period for Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk. The desktop has a five-year warranty. Please note: normal wear and tear, cracks and damage due to incorrect assembly, disassembly or repair are not covered by this.
All parts of the frame have a fifteen-year warranty. Think of (unprovoked!) problems with the mechanical and electrical parts and the motors – that is all covered by that warranty.
Of course you hope you won’t need it, but a long warranty does give you a nice feeling: it shows that Fully has confidence in their product.
Electric vs. pneumatic vs. manual sit-stand desks
Sit-stand desks can be adjusted in height in three ways. I briefly explain all three before explaining how this is with the Fully Jarvis that we received.
- An electric sit-stand desk is powered by an electric motor. You can adjust these desks in height with one push of a button. This is simple, fast and quiet. An electric model usually has the highest price tag, including Fully. You should also always place the desk near an electrical outlet. 🔌
- There are sit-stand desks that can be pneumatically adjusted in height. This means that the base works with compressed air through a compressor. For example, a lever or foot pedal is present. The advantages are that they are cheaper than electric sit-stand desks and that you do not need electricity. They are also easy to use and easy to assemble. The disadvantages are that a pneumatic sit-stand desk is less quiet, stable and accurately adjustable than its electric counterpart. However, Fully does not offer this option, so if you want to go for this, you will have to go to another manufacturer.
- You have to adjust the desks in the third category manually. This is the most budget-friendly option, but it will cost you more work. A manual sit-stand desk also makes more noise during adjustment.
The Fully Jarvis can be found in both electric and manual versions – the Jarvis Crank. We have received the electric. As you read above, this has numerous advantages.
The control panel we received also has a memory function that allows you to save the correct sitting and standing height and set it with a single push of a button. Please note: you do not necessarily get that memory function with an electric chassis. You pay an additional cost of €35 for this.
Minimum and maximum height
Our testers specifically tested the three-stage frame. This has a range between 62.2 cm to 127 cm without a desktop. This is suitable for most people between 162.5 cm and 213.3 cm. With this, the desk meets the NEN-EN 527 standard, a standard for desks that the average European keeps in mind.
It is also possible to choose a two-stage frame or a low three-stage frame.
- The two-stage frame has a range between 73.7 cm to 122.7 cm without a desktop. This is suitable for most people between 177.8 cm and 205.8 cm.
- The low three-stage frame has a range between 55.6 cm to 107.2 cm without a desktop. This is suitable for most people between 144.8 cm and 180.3 cm.
Stability of Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk
The Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk is very strong and stable. Our two monitors barely move when we lean on the desk or type. This variant (with three-stage frame) has a lifting capacity of 158 kilos, so that the desk remains stable even at the highest position with a lot of weight on it. So don’t worry if you have heavy equipment!
Material and design of Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk
You can put together the Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk to your own taste. There are different materials and colors available and you also have the option to make it as elaborate as you want.
The desk we tested has a desktop made of solid oak. This feels premium! Extra nice is the lacquer layer that prevents scratches and makes the desktop easy to polish. You also see any scratches in that finish less quickly than you would see a deep scratch in the wood itself.
The rest of the desk is also beautifully finished: the steel base has a premium matte coating that looks extremely solid.
Prefer a different desktop material? In addition to solid oak, you can choose from:
- solid walnut or maple wood;
- bamboo;
- laminate flooring;
- veneer wood;
- white board .
If you are looking for a lighter material, bamboo or laminate are good options. However, these materials are less durable than solid wood. You can make notes with a marker on the whiteboard. Handy when you’re at work! Depending on the material, you can choose from different colors.
The base is now available in white, black, violet, indigo, silver, and light metal.
Dimensions of Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk
Our variant of the Fully Jarvis sit-stand desk has a tabletop of 160 × 80 cm. As far as we are concerned, this offers more than enough space. Our testers’ two monitors, laptop and keyboard all fit on it.
If you still need a little more space, a 180 × 80 cm top is also available. Smaller is also possible: 120 × 80 cm or 140 × 80 cm. No shortage of options!
Accessories
You can purchase and install various additional accessories on the desk. Certain accessories can be screwed into the pre-drilled holes under the desktop.
Our testers tested the bottle opener, among other things. Extra handy is that it contains a magnet that ensures that the cap does not fall on the floor!
