ASML is the most valuable tech company in Europe and the most important company in the Netherlands. The company designs the gigantic and extremely complex machines that can produce the most advanced chips in the world. Microsoft, Apple, Google, Tesla and Alibaba depend on the chips made with ASML’s devices. Both America and China want to provide themselves with the best chips, and Europe wants that too. How did it come to this and how did the company from Veldhoven manage to conquer such a crucial role in the chip world? Marc Hijink followed ASML from within for years.
