God Mode in Windows 11 and 10

God Mode in Windows 11 and 10

When Microsoft releases a new version of Windows, such as Windows 11, certain functions may disappear into the background. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t important (anymore). This gives you quick access to hidden functions on Windows.

To access a range of features that are no longer easily found in the Settings application, you must activate God Mode. The name of the mode is a bit of an exaggeration. Because in fact we create a folder that simply contains a series of shortcuts to all kinds of functions. That doesn’t make such a map any less useful; especially if you’ve been looking for a certain option for a while that you just can’t find. God Mode is available in Windows 10 and Windows 11, so it doesn’t matter which version you have for this step-by-step plan.

Activating God Mode Windows 11 and 10

To activate the God Mode of Windows 11 and Windows 10, follow these steps.

  • Create a folder on your desktop. To do this, right-click on an empty space, select New and then Folder.
  • Give the folder the following name: GodMode. {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Once you have confirmed the name, it will be removed. The folder now effectively has no name and that is normal.
  • Open the folder. After opening you will see a complete list of options. The list consists of more than two hundred possibilities, all of which are neatly arranged. Think of security, maintenance and energy options.
  • You can now drag the shortcuts in the folder to your desktop so that you always have quick access to a particular function. For example, if you want one-click access to your printer settings, you can now do that.
  • By the way, keep in mind that the image of the folder (the icon) can change after you restart your computer. That too is normal.

Whichever way you look at it, and whatever you think of God Mode, it’s a handy option with which many settings can be reached quickly. The name is perhaps a bit unfortunate, because it creates expectations, but that does not alter the fact that accessibility is paramount here. So you can’t find a certain function or would you really like to get to specific settings with one click? Then you now know what to do.
