Google Assistant app now available for iOS in the Netherlands

We had to wait a while, but it is finally possible to download the Dutch Google Assistant for your iPhone. This allows you to use the Siri competitor through a separate app.

Google Assistant iOS

Google started rolling out the Assistant to Dutch users last week, but the app was not immediately approved in the App Store. That has finally changed, allowing any iPhone user to install the Assistant. The voice assistant is available as a separate app, while Google’s Assistant on Android is incorporated into the operating system itself. It is striking that many Android users are still waiting for the Assistant, but all people with an iPhone now have access.

The Google Assistant works in much the same way as Siri, and you can ask simple questions to help you further. For example, ask for a joke, whether the Assistant wants to use a timer or what your favorite football club did last weekend. The Assistant is completely tailored to Dutch users and therefore contains many typical Dutch jokes and facts.

De Assistant works together with several Dutch companies and broadcasters, for which the so-called ‘Actions on Google’ are used. This means that companies, such as Albert Heijn, Bol.com and RTL Nieuws, can build in specific functions. You can read more about this in our previous article about the Dutch Google Assistant.

Via the button below you can download and install the separate Google Assistant app on your own iPhone. The voice assistant works on all devices with iOS 10 or higher and requires about 116MB for installation. Later this year, the Google Home will appear here, a competitor for Apple’s HomePod, with of course the Dutch Assistant built-in.
