Google Fit helps you live a healthier life. The counterpart to Apple’s Health app is now available for iOS. This is how Google Fit works on your iPhone.
Google Fit iOS now available
Google Fit is similar to Apple’s Health app and helps you be more active in life. The extensive pedometer is available in the App Store from today and can be used on an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Google Fit has two pillars to measure your health: Exercise Minutes and Heart Points. The first is earned by taking the stairs and taking the dog for a walk. You score heart points during activities that give you a higher heart rate.

You get 1 point for brisk walking with the dog, for example, and 2 points for intensive activities such as jogging. In the app you can indicate your goals yourself, after which Google Fit motivates you throughout the day to achieve them.
For example, if you have not yet achieved your weekly portion of sport, you will receive a notification on Saturday to make a good finish. If you don’t carry a phone with you while exercising, you can add the exercise minutes later. The circles track your Move Points and Heart Minutes, just like Apple’s Activity Rings.
This is how Google Fit challenges you
When you start Google Fit for the first time, you must give permission to use data from the Health app, so that the app also records workouts with your Apple Watch. You can also keep track of your sleeping pattern, meditations and weight.
Finally, Google Fit tries to make you healthier by increasing the number of Exercise Minutes and Heart Points every so often. Google’s fitness app has been available for Android phones since 2014, but has only just come to iOS.
