Google Maps has some new features in store for EVs that have Google built in. For example, you can add charging stops to shorter journeys, you can easily find very fast charging stations and the search results are shown when places such as a supermarket also have charging stations.

It may just be that at the end of this decade there will be more electric cars on the road than fossil fuel cars. Electric cars offer a number of benefits and Google Maps aims to make driving an electric car easy by adding new features. However, these new functions only apply to electric vehicles with so-called Google built-in and not to Android Auto. So here we mean vehicles with Android Automotive or other cars with Google apps. You can find more information about this here and it currently applies to the car brands Polestar, Volvo, GMC, Cadillac, Renault, Honda and Ford, among others, and it will soon be their turn.

By the way, here you can read new features for all users of Google Maps.

New Google Maps features
* Add charging stops to shorter trips: For any trip that requires a charge stop, Maps will suggest the best stop based on factors such as current traffic, your charge level, and expected energy usage. Now you can worry less about remembering to charge wherever you go. And if you don’t want to visit that particular station, you can easily swap it for another station with a few taps. * Very fast charging stations: With the ‘very fast’ charging filter you can easily find stations with chargers of 150 kilowatts or higher. For many cars, this can provide enough power to fill up and be back on the road in less than 40 minutes. (more features below the image)

* Charging stations in search results: Google Maps will also show you in search results when places like a supermarket have charging stations on site. So if you’re on the road to get groceries, it’s easier to choose a store where you can also charge your car.
