The Nest Wifi Pro has been officially announced. The router works with the WiFi 6 standard and is for sale in the Netherlands from 219.99 euros.
Google Wifi and Nest Wifi Pro
Google’s mesh system ‘Google Wifi’ stems from the Google OnHub Router and was launched in the Benelux in 2016. The goal of Google Wifi was to give the user a system that is stable and easy to install. A new version with the new name followed in 2019: Google Nest Wifi.
That device consists of two devices: the Google Nest Wifi Router and the Nest Wifi Point. You place the Punt units strategically in your home to expand the WiFi signal. The Punt got the same options as the Google Nest Mini, including the Google Assistant. So you can also ask this device specific questions such as the current internet speed or pause the internet connection of the children, all via a voice command. This device only came our way in 2020, and ease of use was still very important to this successor.
The Nest Wifi Pro is the latest version of Google’s mesh system and below you will find the main features of the device.
1. Support Wi-Fi 6 Standard and Matter
A lot has changed when it comes to the Wi-Fi standard as we now have the improved Wi-Fi 6 and 6E standards. They are better suited to keep more connected devices running smoothly at the same time. The router works with the WiFi 6E standard and thus offers support for the 6 GHz band in addition to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
The 6GHz band does not make your internet connection faster, but it does ensure that the connection to devices is more stable. Suppose your internet connection is a highway, then a third lane will be added that a small selection of devices can use. In this way, the router prevents overloading of the network and you can have multiple video calls, watch a 4K movie and play games at the same time without any problems.

The Nest Wifi Pro Router also works with Matter, the smarthome standard that should solve the connection problems between different ecosystems. When Matter is available later this year, the Nest Wifi Pro will allow you to manage and control all your Matter devices. The router also comes with a built-in Thread-border router to connect your Thread-mesh network of smart devices to your Wi-Fi network. Your Thread-enabled network will be faster, consume less energy and reach more places in and around your home.
2. A good internet connection everywhere
The previous Nest Wifi router with WiFi 5 supports speeds of up to 2.2 Gbps. The Nest Wifi Pro Router offers a combined speed of up to 4.2 Gbps and has built-in two 1 GB ports in each router for wired connections.
In addition, the router comes with smart functions that allow it to automatically prioritize the most important activities. Here, too, overloading of the network must be prevented.

3. No need for a Nest Wifi Point anymore
The Nest Wifi Pro is the successor to the Nest Wifi. A Nest Wifi Point is no longer necessary to expand your network. You can buy an extra Nest Wifi Pro for this. One router, according to Google, covers a space of 120 square meters.
4. Easy to use
Easy to install and simple to use. That also applies to the Nest Wifi Pro. You can easily install the router in a few minutes via the new Google Home app. In addition, you can use this app to prioritize certain devices, perform speed tests, set up a guest network, and share your password easily and securely.

Furthermore, the Nest Wifi Pro proactively scans for problems and also diagnoses them. It can also fix common network problems on its own, so you don’t have to. Nest Wifi Pro does not work with older versions, by the way.
5. Security and Protection
Google provides the Nest Wifi Pro with automatic security and performance updates. So you never have to wonder if your router has the latest software. The router is also better protected against unauthorized software and router hacks. In the Google Home app, you’ll see every device connected to your network, so you can interrupt access for devices you don’t recognize.
Families can assign devices to specific family members in the Google Home app and pause Wi-Fi for those devices at any time. With parental controls, you can even set times when your children can use Wi-Fi and limit access during bedtime and dinner, for example. In addition, unsafe content can easily be blocked.
