Google Photos Memories now haunt you on desktop

The Memories you see first at the top of Google Photos when you open the app will also be coming to the desktop version. Google shows what the feature looks like on a PC.

Google Photos Memories

Google Photos has had a Memories section for some time now, which contains collections of some of your best photos and videos, from previous years or the past few weeks. You’ll see the reminders right at the top of the home screen in the app, and they’re similar to Instagram’s Stories feature. Recently, Google added automatic collages to the feature, which is one of many variants the search giant has come up with.

Starting this week, your memories can also be seen if you Google Photos on your PC or laptop. Google wants you to “always see some of your best photos and recent highlights, no matter what device you’re viewing them on.”

As you can see in the tweet below, the interface matches that of the app. You see the memories at the top and you can click on them and view the collection via the arrows. The following collection can be found on the right side of the screen. In addition, just like in the app, you can select which types of reminders you want to see.

  1. Click on the top right Institutions and scroll to Reminders.
  2. Select under Featured Memories the kind of memories you want to look for.

You can also hide people, pets or specific dates:

  1. Click on the top right Institutions and scroll to Memories.
  2. Select Hide people and pets.
  3. Choose the photos of people or pets you want to hide. To see someone again, select the face again.
  1. Click on the top right Institutions and scroll to Memories.
  2. Select Hide dates.
  3. Add the date of the photos you want to hide.To remove a hidden date, select remove.

You do not have to indicate your preferences again, because Google synchronizes these on different devices. Not a fan of the memories Photos presents you with? Unfortunately, just like in the app, it seems that on desktop you can’t disable the feature either. The memories will be on display from this week in the desktop version of Google Photos.
