Google releases updated Google Earth for iOS

Google has given its Earth app for iOS a major update. The digital globe now shows locations in 3D and offers you guided tours of our planet.

Update cleans up Google Earth

Google Earth for iOS had not been updated for a while, but has now been completely rebuilt. The new version was already released for Android and the desktop earlier this year, but can also be used on your iPhone and iPad.

You can now visit all kinds of locations in Google Earth and view them in 3D. Where you previously only saw flat satellite images, you can now visit numerous locations worldwide in 3D. In addition, Voyager allows you to take more than fifty guided tours, learning about the different locations that Google has selected for you. With the Postcard function, via the Camera icon, you can make a digital postcard of a found location.

Google has also provided more than twenty thousand points on the globe with additional information. Here you will not only find historical facts and other tidbits, but also other places that are worth visiting. Google has also placed the ‘I’m guessing’ button from its search engine in Earth, which sends you to any destination.

In addition to the renewed iOS app, you can also use the new Google Earth on your Mac or PC. The online version of Google Earth has almost the same features as the app. You do have to use Google Chrome as your web browser. Other popular browsers such as Safari or Firefox are not yet supported.
