Snapshot in the Google Assistant will have a place in the Google graveyard, but that will not be a big loss for many. This part will no longer be available in the Assistant.
Snapshot in the Google Assistant
Snapshot was launched by Google in 2018 as part of the smart assistant and as a successor to the Google Now feed. It is a kind of overview page or personal page on which all kinds of useful information can be seen. This way you can see the route to work in the morning, your appointments for the day and the weather.
Other cards that can pass in Snapshot are a welcome message, reminders, stocks, packages on the way and questions you can ask the smart assistant. Snapshot can be reached via the second icon (overview) in the navigation bar in the Google app.
Farewell Message
Now if you tap on that icon, you will be welcomed with a goodbye message instead of a welcome message. It says “You can still ask the Assistant for the updates you find here, such as calendar events, birthday reminders, stock quotes, and other features.” Google means by this that you will soon only be able to request the information that can be seen in Snapshot via a voice command. Examples mentioned by the search giant are:
- “Hey Google, what’s on my calendar for today?”
- “Hey Google, when is my next flight?”
- “Hey Google, what’s the weather like?”
- “Hey Google, start a shopping list”
google advises in addition to add calendar updates to a routine to get appointment reminders. You can also ask the Google Assistant when it’s someone’s birthday and receive birthday notifications for that person. For the information about your shares you can right here and sports updates such as current match results, tournament standings and league statistics, simply ask the Google Assistant.
Yet such an overview is also very useful in many cases, although I must confess that I hardly ever look at it. How about you? Do you use the Google Assistant overview page a lot? Or not at all? Let us know in the poll below. It is not known exactly when the page will disappear from the Google Assistant. Unfortunately, we do not know whether there will be an alternative.
