Every Sunday you can read a nice and interesting column by John Vanderaart on pcactive.nl. This time he talks about Google Street View.

About a month and a half ago I walked through the village of Ouroux-en-Morvan, which is set in France in the Burgundian countryside. Let’s go through the imaging: I was sitting in the sun drinking coffee in front of the local family hotel and within five minutes of each other I saw a camera car from TomTom and a camera car from Google drive by. You would think someone is doing double work there, but it will be worth it. I believe TomTom, but I expected new data on Street View from Google soon. Judging by the current images, Google already went to have a look about five years ago and then not anymore. Admittedly, not that much changes in the Morvan, but still… And maybe that’s not the right idea on my part? In this modern age of fast internet you have high expectations of ‘big data’. Maybe too high expectations? And at the same time, I wonder if Street View – as much as I can enjoy it – is respectful of decency? Unsolicited filming and photography! I am very curious about the opinion of someone like Henk van de Kamer on this. I don’t think that opinion is just right…

You start to get demanding. Google Street View should update faster.
