Google supports Windows 7 longer than Microsoft

The support of Windows 7 may well come to an end, that does not mean that everyone leaves the operating system en masse to go for something else. In fact, there are even companies that support the system for longer. Google plans to support the system for another 18 months.

The support for Windows 7 will be officially stopped on January 14 and it will be over and over. The operating system will then no longer receive (security) updates. However, Google has indicated that it still supports Windows 7 until July 15, 2021.

“If you have not yet started switching to Windows 10, or if your organization is halfway through the migration, you can still take advantage of Chrome’s enterprise capabilities,” said Max Christoff, Engineering Director, Chrome.

“On Windows 7, Chrome will continue to offer built-in security features that help keep users safe while on the web.”

It is often the case that applications are supported for longer than the operating system on which they are running. However, the risk of continuing to work on such a system is greater, so that is not recommended. But if for some reason you really can’t switch (yet), it’s good to know that your browser is up-to-date.
