Households with solar panels can install a home battery yourself. Without installer or high installation costs. This is reported by HomeWizard, market leader in energy insights for consumers. Plug in the socket, go through a number of steps in the app and you automatically store your own cheerful solar energy for a later moment, for example at night.
The plug-in battery works wirelessly with the P1 meter to save the solar power that you would otherwise return. When you need energy, the power from the battery is used instead of expensive mains current. This is how you benefit day and night from solar energy.

Home batteries from different providers cost between 3,500 and 8,000 euros excluding installation. The homewizard’s home battery costs 1,395 euros and has been delivered since last fall. The company wants to make sustainable storage of solar power accessible to the general public, with an affordable home battery that can be installed itself.
Pay for returning
The six largest energy suppliers in the Netherlands have started calculating return costs to the consumer or have announced that they will do that soon. Energy suppliers have to deal with higher costs due to the netting scheme and the growth in the range of solar energy supplied. They pass on these costs to their customers with solar panels. The netting scheme will stop on January 1, 2027, the new cabinet announced earlier this year. Households with a home battery save money because they use more solar power themselves and return less. They are able to minimize or even prevent it to minimize returns.
First battery with a standard plug
HomeWizard presents the first with a home battery with a normal 220V plug The so-called HomeWizard Plug-in Battery will keep your durable solar power for a later moment. Paul Straathof, founder of HomeWizard, about the new product: “To make the use of sustainable energy accessible to the general public, we started years ago with the development of a home battery that can be installed by everyone themselves. By involving as many households in the Netherlands as possible, we hope to contribute to accelerating the energy transition.”
The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has established that you as a consumer can return to a socket limited. For this we maintain the European (and/IEC 50549) standardization that allows a limit to 800 watts and additional homewizard patented protections that go beyond this standard to arrive at a safe product.
Net congestion
The term Netcongestie is increasingly common in the news. Simply put, this is a traffic jam on the power grid in your neighborhood. There is too much electricity that at the same time tries to travel over the same cables. This happens when there is much more supply than demand, for example because on sunny days much more is generated than consumed. Batteries offer a solution here.

By charging a home battery with excess solar power from your own solar panels, you can use the same power in the evening, night and morning again. If everyone maximizes their self -consumption in this way and lives less, we relieve the net. At other times the self -raised current comes from the battery instead of the net, which in turn also causes less crowds on the power grid in the neighborhood.
Grows with you
Many home batteries are too big. Not in size, but in terms of capacity. Because of this you pay for storage that you do not get empty in the summer and not full in the winter. With an average home, a storage between the 2 kWh and 5 kWh is perfect to provide all devices in the house during the night. That is why one homewizard plug-in battery can store up to 2.7 kWh. The battery can load and discharge up to 800 watts. Need more? Easily stack one or more batteries, even at a later time.

HomeWizard Plug-in Battery
The HomeWizard Plug-in Battery has been available since this year. The home battery has a capacity of 2.7 kWh and works fully brand -independent. This means that the home battery works with every solar panel formers and every energy supplier. One battery can load with 800 watts and 800 watts discharge. With a change in consumption, the number of home batteries can be expanded at any time by 2.7 kWh per battery.
A single home battery reduces around 300 kg of CO2 emissions per year, making the homewizard homewizard CO2 neutral within three years. With a noise level of nominal 32 dB, the sound is comparable to that of a refrigerator. Because each home battery has its own micro-inverter, these are also much more energy efficient at low power than a battery with one large inverter. The plug-in battery uses less than one watt in standby.
Reserve your plug-in battery
The range of the plug-in battery is still limited. There are a large number in production, but these have different liver moments. The delivery time has risen until halfway through 2025. With a reservation by means of a down payment of € 50 you will insure yourself from one of the batteries that is already in the production line and homewizard can scale better. The sooner you reserve, the further in the front you are in the ‘queue’.
