I have a coffee machine (coffee percollator) that actually runs on 380 volts. Now I want to convert it to 220 volts. How can I best do that? An old acquaintance of mine once did this with a washing machine. I no longer have contact with this person, but it worked.

Answer
Unless you have the knowledge of an electrician – and then you wouldn’t be asking the question – I wouldn’t start a job like that: those are voltages where no accidents can happen, only major accidents.
In principle you can connect an appropriate resistor – a kind of heating device, so to speak, but the safe way (and even then you have to be engrossed in electricity anyway) is to use a transformer that converts the alternating current from 380 V to 220 V. And then provided that the circuit to which your socket is connected can withstand the required current intensity.
Of course you also have to be sure that your percolator only uses one phase.
