How do the plants reproduce?

Answer

Hello Eve,

plants can reproduce in two ways.
Sexually and asexually.

Sexually means it takes two partners, just like in animals where you have a male and a female.
In most plants, the pollen from one plant will end up on the pistil of another plant. This is the pollination.
The pollen consists of pollen grains. Each pollen grain contains some male particles. From each pollen grain a small tube grows into the pistil. The male particles will move through this tube. Inside the pistil are female particles. A male particle can fuse with a female particle. This is the fertilization. This creates a new cell. This cell then grows into a baby plant. Other parts of the pistil will then develop into seeds and others into the fruit.
For example, when you eat an orange, you eat a fruit. In the orange you can sometimes find seeds, these are the seeds. Each seed contains a baby plant that was created by the fusion of male and female particles from two plants. When you plant the seed, it will germinate and the baby plant will grow into a new orange tree. This is the sexual reproduction, you need both male and female particles.

Plants can also reproduce asexually. In this way, certain parts of a plant can take root and then continue to grow on their own. With other plants, such as the strawberry plant or agave, real child plants are formed. Any plant can grow into an adult plant. But actually this is the same plant that reproduces itself without the need for another plant. This is asexual reproduction.
