How fast can a mosquito suck up blood? Will this take several seconds or can it happen if I chase it away immediately after landing?
Answer
Best,
the duration of a bite depends on the species of mosquito. There are species that can bite very quickly; countries and immediate prizes, such as Anopheles plumbeus, which is currently on the rise in Flanders. There are also species that are pickier and take a little longer to find the right spot for them.
Much also depends on the amount of potential candidates to bite. If it is low, many species will bite quickly to be sure to have a blood meal with them.
