It’s a feature on your iPhone that you probably never use: the maximum screen time. Still, this can be a very interesting one if you want to protect your phone from thieves.
Your iPhone has plenty of features that you probably use a lot, but maximum screen time isn’t one of them. If you’ve already set this up on a phone, it’s often because you have kids and don’t want them playing with their cellphones all day. However, this function does have added value.
Screen Time on your iPhone
Not only is it an ideal child lock, but it is also an effective method of protecting your iPhone from theft. You may not get your phone back with it, but you will protect your sensitive data from criminals, because of course they can be found in abundance on your iPhone.
Your iPhone not only contains photos and personal messages, it is also access to your bank account or important documents, for example. You don’t want it to end up in the hands of criminals who can misuse it.
A code is nice, of course, but once a thief gets his hands on your phone, he can immediately change it. Still, there is an extra layer of security that you can use against people who abuse this, and that is the maximum screen time.
Although the maximum screen time seems to serve mainly as a weapon against rebellious adolescents, it is also the ideal extra protection against criminals. It locks your iPhone and can only be opened with a unique code that you set. Thieves don’t take this feature into account at all, making it an ideal method.

That is how it works
Don’t have children? Then you probably don’t know how this function works, so we are happy to explain it to you. Go to Institutions > Screen time. In that screen, scroll to Use Screen Time passcode. Here you can enter a code.
That’s the first step. Now you go to in that menu Limits, or the red box. Turn this on and then press Account changes and select do not allow. This will prevent thieves from changing your code because they don’t have the special code you set up for this feature. So they can’t do anything with your phone. An ideal extra layer of security, in other words.
