Do you have an AirPods Max and does the sound crack, or do you run into other problems? Then try to reset the over-ear headphones first. In this manual we explain how it works.
Manual: Reset AirPods Max
Is the Bluetooth connection not working properly, or does the sound quality of your AirPods headphones leave something to be desired? Resetting an AirPods Max is child’s play and solves most of the problems. You only need the included USB-C to Lightning cable. Check? Then follow the directions below:
- Make sure to charge the AirPods Max for a few minutes before you start the reset;
- Simultaneously press and hold the Noise Control Button and Digital Crown;
- Continue to hold the buttons until the LED light on the bottom of the right earcup starts flashing orange;
- Release: the headphones are now reset.
A hard reset
Did the above instructions not solve the problem? Then it is best to give the headphones a ‘hard’ reset. Here you bring the AirPods Max back to the factory settings. The headphones ‘forget’ all your personal settings and you start with a clean slate.
Here’s how to restore factory settings on an AirPods Max:
- Put your AirPods Max on the charger before you start;
- Press and hold the noise control button and Digital Crown;
- Continue to hold the buttons for about 15 seconds until the light starts flashing orange, then white;
- The factory settings have now been restored.
The Apple headphones now ‘behave’ as they did when you took them out of the box. For example, you have to pair it with your Apple devices again.
