Apple’s digital assistant can be very useful. Still, there are times when turning off Siri is a better option. In this article we explain how this works for all your devices.
Turn off Siri on all your Apple devices
Turning off Siri isn’t difficult as long as you know where to find the power button. All devices that have Siri support can also disable the assistant. This can come in handy, for example, if you don’t like the idea that your iPhone is constantly listening in, or if Siri is activated too often unintentionally. To keep it clear, we have explained step by step how to turn off Siri for each Apple device: the iPhone, Mac (Book), Apple Watch and Apple TV.
Turn off Siri on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
The most used version of Siri is present on the iPhone. Follow the steps below to manually deactivate the assistant. These steps work on all devices running iOS: the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
- Open settings;
- Tap Siri;
- Turn off the switch behind Siri.
Turn off Siri on Apple Watch
As soon as you turn off Siri on your paired iPhone, the assistant will also stop working on the Apple Watch. However, if you only want to disable Hé Siri on your watch, these three steps are sufficient.
- Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch;
- Choose General;
- Turn off the switch behind Hey Siri.
Turn off Siri on iMac and MacBook
Siri has also been on the iMac and MacBook since 2016. By following the steps below, you can not only remove the assistant from the menu bar, but also switch it off completely. In the menu below you can also change Siri’s voice or set a key combination.
- Click on the Apple logo in the top left corner;
- Go to System Preferences;
- Click on Siri;
- Turn off the switch behind ‘Turn on Siri’.
Turn off Siri on Apple TV
Just like the iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac, you can also operate the fourth generation Apple TV with Siri. Just like with the above products, it is relatively easy to switch off again.
- Go to the Settings app on your Apple TV;
- Scroll to General;
- Turn off the button behind Siri.
