I have AVG scanner, no idea which version, but recently he indicated that I have to download version of 2011 before December 16, otherwise I get 1000s of viruses per day. Is this false alarm or not?

I have AVG anti virus scanner, version 8.5.449, but recently he indicated that I have to download version of 2011 before December 16, otherwise I get 1000s of viruses per day. Is this false alarm or not?

Answer

It’s normal that AVG wants you to use the latest version of their virus scanner, otherwise it really won’t help much. Their statement that you will get 1000s of viruses a day may be grossly exaggerated, but would like to encourage you to use the latest version.

Since it is (probably) a free version, I recommend that you do this. Even without the warning, it’s best to get the latest version.

TIP : delete the old version first.
