After switching to an iPhone 15 Plus, I sold my iPhone 12 on Marktplaats. This is what it got me.
I sold my iPhone 12 and this is what I got for it
Initially I planned to trade in my green iPhone 12 with 128 GB storage to Belsimpel, but in the end I decided to put it up for sale on Marktplaats. That’s where I eventually sold it to him. I had been using my iPhone 12 for two years with a case, but no screen protector. The result is that there is a clearly visible scratch on the screen.
Although this makes no difference to the use of the iPhone, it does mean that the amount that Belsimpel wanted to pay for my iPhone 12 was immediately a lot lower. Belsimpel pays 228 euros for an iPhone 12 with 128 GB that looks like new.
If you have a number of small scratches, the price drops to 195 euros. I only got 89 euros for my iPhone 12 with clearly visible scratches. If I sold my iPhone 12 via Marktplaats, it would probably earn me more.
Sold on Marktplaats within an hour
If you look on Marktplaats, you will see that an iPhone 12 with 128 GB is often offered for an amount of 300 to 350 euros. These are models that still look perfect thanks to the use of a case and screen protector.
These are also prices that people hope to get, so in practice the prices they are actually sold for will be slightly lower. Especially when you keep in mind the large selection of these devices on Marktplaats.
Because I didn’t want to be stuck with it for too long, I put my iPhone 12 on Marktplaats with an asking price of 250 euros (bidding starts at 220 euros). I photographed the scratch mentioned, so that it would not be an unpleasant surprise for anyone. Nevertheless, within an hour I had an offer of 220 euros for my iPhone 12 and I actually sold it for that immediately.
I could possibly have gotten a little more out of it, but like I said, I didn’t want to spend too long on it. The buyer seemed trustworthy and was looking for a green iPhone 12 for his daughter, so I happily sold it to him. The fact that I had a green iPhone 12 may have also helped me: the iPhone 12 is often offered, but a green one is relatively rare.
