In iOS 15, you can drag images and text from one app to another

Apple doesn’t have enough time to cover all the new features when presenting new software versions. This also applies to this drag & drop feature, which will make multitasking on the iPhone a lot easier.

Drag & Drop is coming to iPhone

With the arrival of iOS 15, it will be possible to use drag & drop between different apps. Dragging and dropping content has been available on the iPad since 2017. Because the iPhone does not have the same split-screen function as the iPad, the function took a little longer. Apple has now found a clever way to enable drag & drop on the iPhone.

To use the new feature in iOS 15, long-press an image or a selected piece of text within an app. While holding down the item in question, use another finger to navigate to another app. Once it is open, release the item. The image or text will then appear in the app you are currently in.

In many apps, you can hold an item and simultaneously press other items to select them as well. That way you create a sort of stack of content, which you can drag and drop as a group and place in another app. Also good to know: the drag & drop function does not work in all apps.

More new features in iOS 15

Every year Apple releases a new version of iOS, the operating system that can be found on the iPhone. In addition to major, eye-catching features, these system updates also offer smaller improvements. Often these small upgrades make a big difference.

Also this year, Apple has again crammed a large list of new features into iOS 15. We walk you through the most important ones in the video below: from the improved FaceTime functions to notifications, AirPods and what’s changing in the field of privacy.
