Instagram shows user stories larger in the feed

From now on, the Instagram Stories will stand out even more in the app’s news feed. In addition, Instagram is testing a function to record stop-motion videos.

Larger Instagram Stories in the app

Instagram’s story function is still at the top of the app. This feature allows users to post photos or videos that will be automatically deleted after 24 hours. The Instagram Stories bar already returned while scrolling through regular images and videos, but Instagram has now adjusted them so that they stand out more.

The stories will still be placed between other images, but now you will not only see dots with profile pictures of users. Those avatars have doubled in size. Behind it, previews of the stories appear. This way you as a user are made curious about the posted Stories. Against TechCrunch Instagram says it has no plans to expand the Stories bar at the top as well.

New camera mode: stop motion

Instagram is working on a new camera mode in the Stories function, namely stop motion. This mode is currently being tested, writes The Verge. This allows users to take a series of photos in sequence, which is then shown as a stop-motion movie.

A week ago, Instagram released the ‘Superzoom’ option. This makes your stories extra dramatic by extremely zooming in the camera on, for example, your head or something else. The accompanying music provides extra drama.

Millions of users

Instagram Stories is doing very well. The service has 250 million users every day. That’s a lot more than Snapchat, where Instagram got its inspiration for the story feature. The Instagram app has 800 million users every month.
