Intel introduces the 13th generation Intel Core desktop processors including the i9-13900K, which Intel claims is the fastest desktop processor in the world. There are 6 new desktop processors with up to 24 cores, 32 threads and high clock speeds of up to 5.8 GHz.

Intel introduced the 13th Gen Intel Core processor family on September 27, spearheaded by the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900K which is the world’s fastest desktop processor [1]. The new 13th Gen Intel Core family includes six new desktop processors with up to 24 cores and 32 threads and high clock speeds of up to 5.8 GHz for the best gaming, streaming and recording experience. [2].

Better performances
Following the launch of the Intel Core K processors, the 13th generation Intel Core desktop family will consist of 22 processors and more than 125 partner system designs. Users can take advantage of the performance improvements of 13th Gen Intel Core processors with existing Intel 600 or new Intel 700 series chipset motherboards. Coupled with both the latest DDR5 memory support and the successor to DDR4 memory support, users can enjoy the benefits of the 13th Gen Intel Core while customizing their configuration based on their own feature and budget preferences. 13th Gen Intel Core desktop processors should deliver better system performance up to 15% better single-threaded performance and up to 41% better multi-threaded performance [3].

With this generation, Intel’s performance hybrid architecture combines the fastest Performance (P-core) core ever with double the number of Efficient (E-core) cores – for better single-threaded and multi-threaded performance:
• The world’s best gaming experience: With up to 24 cores (8 P-cores, 16 E-cores) and 32 threads, the new Core i9-13900K offers the best gaming, streaming and recording experience. With up to 5.8 GHz and 15% better single-thread performance, it can push high frame rates and provide better gaming experiences in top titles [4].
• Continuous progress in performance for content creation: 13th Gen Intel Core desktop processor lineup adds more E-cores and up to 41% better multi-threaded performance to handle multiple, compute-intensive workloads to keep people in the creative flow .
• A unparalleled overclocking experience [5]: The 13th Gen Intel Core processor provides an unparalleled overclocking experience for everyone – from experts to beginners. Users of the 13th generation Intel Core processors will experience higher average overclocking speeds for P-cores, E-cores and DDR5 memory. Intel has also updated its simple 1-click overclocking feature, Intel Speed Optimizer, to support 13th generation processors, allowing users to overclock with minimal effort. And the Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 3.0 ecosystem offers a wide choice of overclocking modules. Combined with Intel Dynamic Memory Boost, this feature provides a hassle-free memory overclocking experience with both DDR4 and DDR5.

Desktop Platform Features
The 13th Gen Intel Core desktop processors provide users with industry-leading performance and experiences in gaming, content creation and work, with several new and enhanced features, including:
• Intel Adaptive Boost Technology and Thermal Velocity Boost – Customize the processor clock frequencies based on power and thermal headroom during a given workload. Available in Intel Core i9 unlocked SKUs.
• More E-cores in Intel Core i5, i7, i9 – for a big jump in multi-threaded performance and a better multi-tasking/mega-tasking experience for users.
• PCIe Gen 5.0 support, with up to sixteen lanes adjacent to the processor.
• More memory support for DDR5-5600 and DDR5-5200, while maintaining DDR4 compatibility.
• Up to 2x the L2 cache and more L3 cache.

Introducing Intel 700 Series Chipset with Backward Compatibility
In addition to the 13th generation Intel Core desktop processors, Intel is launching the new Intel 700 Series chipset with advanced features for increased reliability and performance. Eight additional PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes combined with PCI Gen 3.0 provide 28 total lanes of the chipset, more USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) ports improve USB connection speed, and DMI Gen 4.0 increases chipset-to-CPU throughput for fast access to peripherals and networks. In addition, Intel brings forward and backward compatibility. Take advantage of the performance improvements of the 13th Gen Intel Core processor with existing motherboards based on the Intel 600 chipset.

Availability
The 13th generation Intel Core desktop K processors and the Intel Z790 chipset will be available October 20, 2022, including boxed processors, motherboards and desktop system sales. (article continues below the image)

Intel Unison software solution
Following the acquisition of Screenovate shown at CES 2022, Intel introduces Intel Unison, a software solution that seamlessly connects to your PC and devices for a universal, easy-to-use experience across operating systems.
The first release of Intel Unison delivers a continuous connectivity experience between the PC and the phone, starting with iOS and Android. After a simple pairing process, the users can:
• File transfer – save time transferring files and photos between a PC and an Android or iOS device, extend the power of the PC and enjoy the continuity of taking a photo or video on a phone and hassle-free editing on the PC.
• Text messages – send and receive text messages from your computer to avoid switching devices and enjoy the comfort and convenience of a full keyboard and monitor.
• Phone Calls – With access to their phone’s entire contact list, users can make and receive phone calls directly from their PC.
• Phone Notifications – Receive and manage phone notifications from your computer, so you stay connected and in control.

Intel Unison will be made available this year on select Intel Evo laptops based on 12th Gen Intel Core processors from Acer, HP and Lenovo, and will expand to 13th Gen Intel Core-based designs starting early next year. Intel Unison will be expanded with additional form factors, functionality and operating systems in the future [6].
