iOS 13 tip: this is how you let Safari close tabs automatically after use

Before you know it, you’ll have tons of open tabs in Safari that you actually don’t need anymore. To keep your iPhone or iPad screen from becoming a mess, you can automatically close tabs in Safari in iOS 13.

Automatically close tabs Safari: this is how you set it

iOS 13 is packed with small improvements, and Safari is also a bit easier to use. Whether you use Apple’s default browser a lot or are a digital sloppy fox, Safari quickly fills up with a pile of unnecessary tabs.

From iOS 13, you can simply solve this by setting Safari to automatically close all open tabs once in a while. It is possible to automatically close internet pages daily, weekly or monthly. You can set this as follows.

iOS 13 tip: this is how you let Safari close tabs automatically after use
  1. Open Settings;
  2. Tap on ‘Safari’;
  3. Scroll to the heading ‘Tabs’ and tap on ‘Close tabs’;
  4. Select the desired period to automatically close tabs by pressing ‘After one day’, ‘After one week’ or ‘After one month’.

Once you have activated one of the three options, you don’t have to keep looking at a messy Safari overview. Depending on the term you set, you will have a tidy browser without any difficulty.

Do you want your tabs to (temporarily) no longer automatically disappear? Then follow the steps as described above and choose ‘Manual’ in the last menu. Then you have to manually wipe every tab that you want to close.

Install the iOS 13 public beta

Currently, iOS 13 is not officially available yet. The final update will roll out for supported iPhones and iPads sometime in September. Until then, you can try out iOS 13 by installing the public beta. Be aware that it can still contain some bugs and always make a backup of your iPhone beforehand.
